While using money and naval battle and blockade to secure her allies and her island sovereignty Great Britain fought chiefly in the Peninsular giving the French a 'Spanish Ulcer' from which they suffered terribly. The Duke of Wellington turned Britain's only field army into the most effective, for its size, fighting force in Europe. For Great Britain the Napoleonic Wars brought a global supremacy that would last for nearly a century.
